Summary
Rob is sitting barefoot on the stage. He is sitting inside a white square, which is marked out with athletic tape, approximately 6x6 feet. Sam is walking by and stops to try and help Rob. It is obvious throughout the interaction that Sam has something to offer, but Rob isn’t willing to let him get close enough. Although he desperately needs help, he refuses it; he has built a box around his life and isn’t going to allow anyone in, being hurt again would just be too painful. In the end Rob gets what he wants as Sam leaves without being able to help him.
Both the set and script of this drama communicate a person who has been hurt and won’t let anyone else get close.
